Ed Skrein shocked many with the announcement of his withdrawal from director Neil Marshall’s ‘Hellboy’ reboot, over concerns about ‘whitewashed’ casting. While the move has won Skrein widespread praise, it’s always a surprise when an actor chooses to walk away from a potentially major role.
Of course, Skrein is hardly the first actor to pass up a significant career opportunity for personal reasons. While it can sometimes be hard to understand an actor’s reasons for such a move, there’s a lot to be respected about someone who chooses to follow their better judgement, rather than simply biting their lip and doing it for the money.
