‘The Favourite’ – Jan 1
Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, the man responsible for the brilliantly weird The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Favourite takes us to 18th century England, where the nation is at war with the French and a frail Queen Anne (Olivia Coleman) occupies the throne. Hilarity ensues as her trusted advisor (Rachel Weisz) and new chambermaid (Emma Stone) compete to be the monarch’s, well, favourite.

‘Colette’ – Jan 11
Keira Knightley stars in this biographical drama, based upon the life of French author Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette. After agreeing to ghostwrite a novel for her husband, she soon becomes frustrated with the lack of recognition for her work, and is inspired to fight against gender conventions in the early 20th century.

‘Stan and Ollie’ – Jan 11
Starring Steve Coogan and John C. Riley, Stan and Ollie follows the legendary comedy double act of Laurel and Hardy in the later stages of their career. With the golden era of their Hollywood films now a thing of the past, the pair go on tour reconnect with their fans, but their partnership is threatened by old tensions and Ollie’s deteriorating health.
