Studio 20th Century Fox are reviving popular horror franchise ‘The Omen’ with a prequel, ‘The First Omen,’ according to The Hollywood Reporter.

No plot details have been revealed, but we can safely assume it will be set before the events of the 1976 original - although, given ‘The Omen’ was remade in 2006, this doesn’t necessarily mean the prequel will be a period piece.

Directed by Richard Donner, ‘The Omen’ cast Gregory Peck as an American politician whose adopted child Damien proves to be the son of Satan. Billie Whitelaw, Patrick Troughton and David Warner also appeared.

A huge hit, ‘The Omen’ spawned three sequels as well as the 2006 remake, and most recently a TV series, ‘Damien.’

‘The First Omen’ is set to be produced by David Goyer and Kevin Turen. Antonio Campos, director of festival hits ‘Simon Killer’ and ‘Christine,’ is in talks to direct, whilst the screenplay is from Ben Jacoby.
