Alec Baldwin shares emotional note on Rust case dismissal

Alec Baldwin has shared an emotional statement after his involuntary manslaughter charges were dropped.

The actor broke his silence after a New Mexico judge threw out the case against him over the fatal shooting of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

In an emotional Instagram post he wrote, "There are too many people who have supported me to thank just now."

The actor accompanied his post with a photo of himself in the Santa Fe courtroom.

"To all of you, you will never know how much I appreciate your kindness toward my family," he added.

Several A-listers immediately replied in support of the 30 Rock star, including comedian Amy Sedaris, Titanic actor Frances Fisher, and Oscar-winner Sir Anthony Hopkins who commented with a heart emoji.

"We love you," wrote Sedaris, who guest starred on 30 Rock in 2012.

Fisher noted, "Whatever comes next, we are by your side, Alec."

Hutchins was killed on 21 October 2021 when a prop gun Baldwin was handling fired, killing her and injuring director Joel Souza.

Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer ruled on Friday that the charges against Baldwin related to Hutchins' death should be dropped due to indications that the prosecution withheld crucial ammunition evidence from the defence.
