Alfred Hitchcock's seminal thriller Psycho is returning to UK and Irish cinemas on 27 May giving movie fans the chance to revisit the classic on the big screen,
Based on the Robert Bloch novel of the same name, and inspired by real life serial killer Ed Gein, this 1960 film is considered one of Hitchcock's greatest movies and is crediting with being the first slasher movie ever made.

To promote the re-release, distributor Park Circus has issued a new trailer which you can watch above.
It tells the story of Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), a young woman who finds herself staying at the remote Bates Motel while on the run from the law. However there's something amiss with proprietor Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) who turns out to be the hotel owner from hell.

This 4K restoration is an extended version of the movie and features 13 seconds of restored footage which had been cut by the censors after the initial theatrical release. It can now be seen how it was originally seen in cinemas in 1960, exactly as intended by Alfred Hitchcock.
