Alicia Vikander tells film crews her sex scenes are a 'one-take' job

Alicia Vikander ensures the crews on her movies know she gets her sex scenes over and done with in one take according to the actress who has appeared in erotic entanglements in films such as A Royal Affair and Tulip Fever.

The 31-year-old's comments come as she stars in new Netflix film Earthquake Bird which sees her character involved in an intense sex scene.

She told Harper's Bazaar UK: "I'm lucky to say that all of my sex scenes throughout my career have been nothing but technical.

“I probably did my first sex scene at 20 and it's always been technical, as it should be; it should never be anything but technical.

“I tell the crew it's a one-taker. That way, everybody on set is on point, because you have to get it done in one take. Like a dancer, we [choreographed it] the same way.

"I think that's the way to do it because then everyone feels comfortable and then hopefully, although it is super strange and uncomfortable, a little magic comes through a lens and people will be convinced."

Vikander stars as Lucy in the film, in cinemas now and on Netflix from 15 November, which has been adapted from the novel by British author Susanna Jones.

Her character is a reserved translator stationed in 1980s Tokyo whose sanity suffers as she falls for photographer (Naoki Kobayshi) amid the city's intermittent earthquakes.

The Sweden native, who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for The Danish Girl in 2015, is due to reprise her role as Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider sequel.

It was revealed earlier in the year that Ben Wheatley was set to direct the feature, with MGM setting a release date of 19 March 2021.
