Amber Heard Confirms Justice League & Aquaman Role

We pretty much knew this was in the bag, and now we have it direct from the (sea)horse’s mouth.

Amber Heard has confirmed that she has been cast as Mera, Queen of Atlantis and wife of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, in both ‘Justice League’ and the ‘Aquaman’ solo movie.

Speaking to ET Online, Heard revealed little, but did confirm she had tried on the costume, which she spilled some very minor details on:

“It’s interesting. It’s like, half suit of armor, half scales. It’s strange… We’re in the process of building it now, so it’s coming along.”

Far from your damsel-in-distress love interest stereotype, Mira is more than a match for her husband Aquaman in the superpower stakes, boasting similar physical strength, as well as the ability to manipulate water to her will.

In her comic book history, Mera hasn’t always been entirely on the side of good either. It will be interesting, then, to see what the DC Extended Universe has planned for the character.

Somehow we doubt Heard would have taken the role if it didn’t require her to do anything other than hang on to Jason Momoa’s arm.

‘Justice League’ starts production next month in London with Zack Snyder directing, and is set to hit cinemas in November 2017; whilst ‘Aquaman,’ set to be directed by James Wan, is due July 2018.

Before that, the DCEU kicks off with ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ opening next Friday, 25 March. Heard is not expected to appear in the film, but Jason Momoa will be seen as Aquaman.
