Amy Adams and David Cronenberg to be honoured at Toronto International Film Festival

Amy Adams and David Cronenberg are set to be honoured at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.

The American Hustle actress and Videodrome director are the first set of honourees to be unveiled for the Canadian festival.

Adams will receive the TIFF Tribute Performer Award and Cronenberg will be presented with the Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award at the festival's sixth annual Tribute Awards in Toronto on Sunday 8 September.

Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh will serve as the inaugural chair of the Tribute Awards.

"This year, we're thrilled to welcome the incomparable Sandra Oh as the inaugural Honorary Chair of the 2024 Tribute Awards," said TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey in a statement. "She joins our first-announced honourees, Amy Adams and David Cronenberg, in what promises to be another singular, sparkling night during the Festival. We're grateful that artists of this stature will gather in Toronto to help TIFF turn the spotlight on increasing inclusion throughout our industry."

Adams, who will support the world premiere of her movie Nightb**ch at the festival, follows in the footsteps of previous Tribute Performer Award recipients Colman Domingo, Brendan Fraser, Jessica Chastain, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kate Winslet, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Meryl Streep and Joaquin Phoenix.

The Norman Jewison Career Achievement Awards recognises Canadians in the film industry who have made a global impact with their careers. Cronenberg follows last year's inaugural honouree, director Shawn Levy.

In addition to Nightb**ch, TIFF will host the premieres of the documentary Elton John: Never Too Late, Tom Hiddleston's latest The Life of Chuck, and the animated feature The Wild Robot.

The festival runs from 5 to 15 September.
