Anne Hathaway will give kids nightmares with 'terrifying' Witches transformation
Watch: The first trailer for The Witches
Anne Hathaway has revealed her terrifying transformation into The Grand High Witch for the upcoming reboot of The Witches.
The 37-year-old virtually had fans scurrying to hide under their beds after the first trailers of the film were shared on social media.
The Witches is a dark comedy based on the 1983 book by children’s author Roald Dahl. Hathaway recently told People that her role needed a lot of prep work
“The Grand High Witch was a total collaboration between costumes, hair and make-up, the writers, my dialect coach, the effects department, stunts, [director] Bob Zemeckis and myself," she told the publication.

“She is such a weirdo — so silly and over the top — and everyone had to work together to be on the same page so it felt big and entertaining but never too much.”
People were quick to take to social media calling the star’s look “terrifying” and the stuff of “nightmares”.
“Now a whole new generation of kids [is going to] need therapy,” one person wrote.
“That grin is pure nightmare fuel,” another said.
While a third simply called the whole look “Fright Night vibes”.
Anjelica Huston first made the role famous in the original movie, and Hathaway took time to pay tribute to her predecessor on Instagram.
“Her performance is magnificent – witty, unforgettable, scary as hell and sheer perfection (the scene where she pushes the baby down the cliff still gives me chills to this day.),” she posted.
“I just wanted to say, one AH to another, that I tip my wig to the O.G.G.H.W. Anjelica Huston.”
