Anne Hathaway To Film Sci-Fi Comedy Horror, The Shower

A feminist variation on ‘Attack the Block’ with Anne Hathaway, anyone? It seems this is more or less what we can expect from the actress’s newly announced project ‘The Shower.’

With an acclaimed original screenplay by Jac Schaeffer - named on the illustrious Blacklist, a survey of the best unproduced scripts in Hollywood, in 2014 - ‘The Shower’ centres on a baby shower which goes to hell when a deadly meteor shower hits Earth (double meaning, see?)

To make matters worse, the meteors somehow transform all the men into monsters with a taste for human flesh - leaving the women, presumably led by Hathaway, to fight back and save the world.

This is the second genre-based film Hathaway has been attached to in 2015, the actress also set to appear in a new giant monster movie entitled ‘Colossal’ - although this project would appear to be in some doubt at present, as ‘Godzilla’ rights-holders Toho have taken legal action against it over accusations of plagiarism.

The Hollywood Reporter liken ‘The Shower’ to ‘Attack the Block,’ ‘This Is The End’ and ‘Bridesmaids’ - all of which would imply an all-star ensemble boasting more big name actresses than Hathaway alone.

Hathaway has praised Schaeffer’s script, saying, “Jac has written an awesome sci-fi comedy centered around funny, fully dimensional female characters. I feel so lucky to be a part of the team that will bring her enormously talented and fresh voice to the big screen.“

Schaeffer expressed similar pleasure at Hathaway’s attachment to the project, describing her as “the perfect actor to anchor a story that is ultimately about female friendship, with a lot of ass-kicking along the way.”

Hathaway will also produce ‘The Shower’ alongside her husband Adam Shulman, and Andrew Lauren.
