Assassin’s Creed: First Official Photo

It looks as though we’ve finally got our first official ‘Assassin’s Creed’ photo… and Michael Fassbender looks awesome under that hood.

Based on the hugely popular videogame series, ‘Assassin’s Creed’ stars Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch – an original character which fans of the game will not be familiar with… as well as his 15th Century Spanish ancestor, Aguilar.

And this first official image seems to give us a good look at Aguilar.

But will Fassbender’s character stay true to the video games?

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, 38-year-old Fassbender revealed that he hadn’t played the video games until he landed the role… but it’s important to get it right.

“I’ve played [The Game] since, mainly to get an idea of the physicality of the character,” he said. “We believe the whole concept around it is special and want to service that the best we can.”

Of course, while Fassbender’s new character hasn’t appeared in the video game series, the functionality of the Animus has become a pretty iconic aspect of ‘Assassin’s Creed’… and that can only really be appreciated by playing the games themselves.

“The fans are really passionate: very specific and they expect accuracy and historical detail. We’re really trying to capitalize and feed on and enjoy the fun element. We’re working hard to make this something special.”

The original ‘Assassin’s Creed’ video game follows the story of Desmond Miles – a bartender who is kidnapped by the powerful organisation, Abstergo Industries. Using a futuristic device known as the Animus, Desmond is forced to traverse the genetic memories of his ancestor, a man named Altair who turns out to be a member of the Secret Order of Assassins.

‘Assassin’s Creed’ sees Michael Fassbender reteam with his ‘Macbeth’ co-star, Marion Cotillard as well as Michael Kenneth Williams and Ariane Labed. ‘Assassin’s Creed’ is directed by Justin Kurzel.

‘Assassin’s Creed’ heads to cinemas on 30 December 2016.
