Amazon Studios' Being the Ricardos has reeled in some more top talent to star opposite Javier Bardem, Nicole Kidman and JK Simmons.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, it's been revealed that writer/director Aaron Sorkin's movie chronicling one chaotic week behind-the-scenes on I Love Lucy (a beloved US sitcom from the 1950s) will also feature Avengers Assemble's Clark Gregg and Toy Story 4's Tony Hale.

Alia Shawkat, who worked on Arrested Development with Hale, is onboard as well, as is The Office US's Jake Lacy.

Already shooting their material in Los Angeles, Oscar-winning trio Bardem, Kidman and Simmons play Desi Arnaz, Lucille Ball and William Frawley in the biopic.

Hale, meanwhile, will portray I Love Lucy's head writer Jess Oppenheimer and Shawkat and Lacy fill the roles of Madelyn Pugh and Bob Carroll Jr – two sitcom scribes.

Gregg's character is unspecified at the moment, though.

Being the Ricardos executive producer Lucie Arnaz shared her enthusiasm in a statement, which read: "My brother Desi and I signed on because this is a story of our folk's real-life passionate, tempestuous and complicated relationship and not a recreation of I Love Lucy – no one could do that.

"We felt exploring that relationship could be an enlightening challenge. We asked Amazon for the best and we got it with every hire. Aaron Sorkin has not told this tale as a 'cradle to grave' biopic. Instead, he's chosen to illuminate a snippet of time during an incredibly intense period of their show's enduring success.

"The casting choices have all been inspired and Desi and I are so looking forward to seeing what this impressive group of actors make of Sorkin's delicious script."
