Avengers: Infinity War won’t star Spider-Man?

The cast list for ’Avengers: Infinity War’ has been revealed ahead of its production, which will be begin in Atlanta in early 2017, and one rather important superhero has been left off.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man doesn’t appear to have made the cut according to the open casting call on MovieCastingCall.org, as his name was conspicuously absent from the list. Especially when you consider that Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and all of the Guardians Of The Galaxy posse are on there.

The casting call also points out that ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ will include Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), and the Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman).

If Spider-Man was definitely in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ then he’d certainly have been included in the long list of names for the film, because there really isn’t a reason for him not to be there.

It could be that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are still negotiating and working out the details of exactly when and where Spider-Man can appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Even though though Spider-Man appeared in ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ and Iron Man will appear in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, Sony might want the superhero to have some time to himself and not forever be popping up in the MCU.

Tom Holland didn’t sound overly clear about his Spider-Man deal when we spoke to The Hollywood Reporter last month, because he though he admitted that he was contracted for “three Spider-Man [appearances in other] movies and three solo movies” he added, “They give you options and those could be exercised whenever. Like a cameo in ‘Avengers’. I’m unclear as to which movies though.”

We’ll have a clearer idea of exactly where the superhero stands within the Marvel Cinematic Universe when ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is released on July 7, 2017, while ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ will be in production through 2017 before it hits on May 4, 2018.
