Beetlejuice 2 reveals first look at Willem Dafoe's dead character in new trailer
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has revealed its first look at Willem Dafoe’s dead character in a new trailer.
The sequel to the 1988 classic will see Michael Keaton reprise his role as the charismatic figure from the Netherworld, with Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara also returning as Lydia and Delia Deetz respectively.
The new cast includes Jenna Ortega as Lydia’s daughter Astrid and Dafoe as Wolf Jackson, a ghost detective who was previously a B-movie action star, with the latest trailer giving us our first glimpse of his character.

The teaser unveils more of the narrative, with the Deetz family reuniting after the death of Astrid’s grandfather. From there, the truth of her family’s history is slowly peeled away, with Beetlejuice returning after his name is uttered.
His return understandably causes a lot of mayhem in the town, with Dafoe’s character seemingly on the hunt for him. There’s also a glimpse at some of the other characters including Justin Theroux’s Rory and Monica Bellucci’s Delores, the wife of Betelgeuse.
Dafoe had previously teased his role in Tim Burton’s film, telling Variety about some aspects of his character, saying: “I haven’t seen any footage yet, but it was fun to do. I play a police officer in the afterlife, so I’m a dead person.
“And in life I was a B-movie action star, but I had an accident and that’s what sent me to the other side. But because of my skills, I became a detective character in the afterlife. So that’s my job. But it’s coloured by the fact of who I was [when I was alive]: a B movie action star.”

“Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River,” reads the logline. “Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia's life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened.
“With trouble brewing in both realms, it's only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice's name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.”
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is scheduled to be released on September 6.
