Who is Benicio Del Toro playing in ‘Star Wars 8’?

It’s no secret that the 49-year-old actor will be heading to the galaxy far, far away… and it’s long been rumoured that he’d be joining ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ in a villainous role. Now, it looks as though he could well be the son of a very familiar ‘Star Wars’ character.

At least, if the rumours are true…

According to YouTuber Mike Zeroh, the actor was listed as playing ‘Vikram Fett’ on wikiwand.com – a modern interface for Wikipedia. Not exactly the most reliable of sources for movie news… but the rumour does line up with some other things we’ve heard.

Who is Vikram Fett?

Well, ‘Star Wars’ fans will undoubtedly know the surname – and he’s rumoured to be the son of none other than original trilogy merc, Boba Fett.

Obviously, take this with a huge pinch of salt.

But recent rumours about the ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ trailer seem to line up with this. Apparently, Benicio Del Toro’s character will be seen in the upcoming trailer, firing a blaster during a funeral scene.

What does this mean?

Well, if Han Solo murdered your father, you’d probably hold a grudge, too. And with already killed at the hands of his own son, it’s not a huge stretch to see Boba Fett’s son taking out his anger on Han’s nearest and dearest.

Whether or not this rumour has an ounce of truth remains to be seen.

But perhaps we’ll get some clues in the upcoming trailer.

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac alongside Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis and Benicio Del Toro.

Rian Johnson wrote and directed the movie.

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ heads to cinemas on 15 December 2017.
