The best new movies to stream over Christmas 2023 from Maestro to Super Mario

Christmas will come early for movie fans in 2023 as some of the biggest and most exciting films of the year will be available to stream ahead of 25 December, and beyond.

All the big streaming platforms — Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Paramount+, and NOW — have lined up some incredible titles for people to enjoy at home throughout the festive period.

So as the nights draw in and the festive treats get rolled out, these are the big new movies we'll all be streaming at home over Christmas.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (Disney+) | Now streaming

What better way to celebrate the Christmas break than with the return of Indiana Jones for one final whip-cracking adventure. Harrison Ford is back as the man in the hat, and Dial of Destiny is guaranteed fun for all the family.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (Paramount+) | Now streaming

This summer's Transformers hit Rise of the Beasts is now streaming at home on Paramount+. The 1990s-set film sees the Autobots battling the Terrocons across the globe in a bid to stop the deadly Unicron from attacking earth.

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (Netflix) | Now streaming

Nothing says family entertainment more than a new Aardman movie. Revisiting the plot of the original Chicken Run film, the sequel sees Rocky and Ginger leading a rescue mission when their daughter is abducted.

Maestro (Netflix) | Now streaming

After winning widespread acclaim with A Star Is Born, Bradley Cooper returns to the director's chair for Maestro, his biopic on composer Leonard Bernstein. Named one of the best movies of 2023, it's already streaming on Netflix - perfect viewing for a long winter's evening.

Need something to keep the kids entertained for two hours? Sky Cinema and NOW have the Shazam sequel now streaming if you fancy something of the superhero variety over the festive period. Starring Zachary Levi, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan, there's something to keep all ages happy in this spandex-heavy sequel.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Sky/Now) | 22 December

Starring Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi, this black comedy sees an Oxford student following his wealthy friend back to his eccentric family's country estate.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie (Sky/NOW) | 25 December

One of the biggest movies of 2023 is coming home for Christmas. Illumination's all-conquering Super Mario Bros. Movie (only Barbie surpassed it at the box office this year) is Sky Cinema's big movie launch of the Christmas period, and can also be streamed on NOW. Prepare for Bowser's Peaches to get stuck in your head all over again.
