On this episode of 1K Dream Room, Host Will Taylor (@brightbazaar) gives Lulu’s bland bedroom an infusion of color and personality with a budget of $1,000 and just one day to finish. Lulu wants her plain, all-white bedroom to feel less like a box and more like a home that reflects her personality. With plenty of natural light and sparse details, Lulu’s bedroom is the perfect blank canvas to furnish with eye-catching yet soothing colors and textures.
Will styles the bed and area around it with fixtures that work cohesively to provide an airy and natural aesthetic that compliments the small space. After arranging a mini fluted ceramic lamp on each of the two square-shaped light wood side tables, Will installs a slim, white floating shelf above the bed. To give a small room more storage options, Will highly recommends including floating shelves that match the wall color, so they blend in with the space without being visually overstimulating.
For a pop of color, Will dresses the bed with a calming green set of sheets and soft pillows before topping it off with a cozy woven throw blanket. To complement the bedding and striped rectangle rug, Will embellishes the windows with gauzy taupe curtains. A tip Will has for making windows appear larger is hanging full-length drapes instead of ones that stop at the bottom of the window.
Last but not least, Will gives the bedroom a little more character by adding natural sculptural elements and pops of color with an assortment of artwork, wall fixtures, plants, and a light coral Darien pouf for a homey finishing touch.
After seeing her room’s transformation for the first time, Lulu is beyond thrilled with the result. She particularly loves how the natural color scheme highlights her plant collection, giving her bedroom “an urban jungle oasis vibe.” Additionally, Lulu is amazed by the various design elements that make the room appear larger, such as the floating shelf, mirrors, and lighting fixtures. Overall, Lulu loves how her bedroom now feels like a home that reflects her personality and accommodates her lifestyle.
