Booster Gold Adds The Flash Writer Zack Stentz

It looks as though ‘Booster Gold’ has found its writer…

According to producer Greg Berlanti, ‘The Flash’ scribe Zack Stentz will pen ‘Booster Gold’, the upcoming DC superhero adaptation.

“I’m attached to a few films [at Warner Bros.] now, and one, Booster Gold, is a DC property,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “Zack Stentz, who wrote an episode of Flash last year, just got the job, so he’s writing the script now.”

But who be directing? Perhaps Greg Berlanti himself would give it a go…

“I’d probably direct that, or I would want to,” he said. “But I don’t see my cup as limited.”

“I definitely want to direct more,” he added. “Film directing’s a lot like showrunning. The thing that I probably enjoy the most and also am the best at in whatever art form I’m working in is being the protector of the emotional experience of the audience.”

‘Booster Gold’ is one of DC’s more flamboyant properties, following the titular, time-travelling superhero, Booster Gold. Initially depicted as a glory-seeking showboat from the future, the egotistical superhero eventually comes to live up to the reputation he created for himself… and even joins The Justice League.

But bringing this to the big screen could be problematic…

For one thing, the tone of ‘Booster Gold’ seems to go against everything Warner Bros. has established in ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Batman V Superman’. The DC Cinematic Universe has a reputation for being rather dark… and the exploits of Booster Gold and his regular buddy the Blue Beetle might prove a little cheesy for audiences expecting more dark, brooding heroes.

Or it could be the lighter touch the DC universe needs.

Either way, bringing Zack Stentz on board seems like a no-brainer.

‘The Flash’ is performing incredibly well, and continues to wow audiences with its representation of the iconic DC speedster – a character who is far more light-hearted than other Justice League members.

If ‘Booster Gold’ is heading to the big screen, Zack Stentz seems like a comfortable fit.

And perhaps Greg Berlanti should take the helm.
