Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally agreed a divorce deal after eight years.

Once upon a time, the Mr and Mrs Smith actors were one of Hollywood's golden couples yet Brangelina split and have since gone onto have one of the most bitter divorce battles in court. They have six children together.

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016 after a private jet flight where she claimed he was abusive towards her and two of their children; Pitt denied the claims. At the time, they had been married for two years of marriage but they were a couple for 12 years.

Now her lawyer James Simon has confirmed it is over. He said in a statement to People magazine: "More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr Pitt."

The lawyer added: "She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.

"This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over."

Brangelina had been locked in a child custody battle but reached an agreement in 2021.

The former couple first met back in 2005 on the set of their movie Mr and Mrs Smith.

Jolie and Pitt have also been locked in a battle over the French vineyard Chateau Miraval. They first visited the Chateau back in 2008 and later bought it.

It remains unclear whether this divorce deal will bring an end to this separate legal dispute over the Chateau.
