‘Bright 2’ has been delayed, and it is all Will Smith’s fault
Bright 2 won’t arrive as early as expected, as star Lucy Fry has admitted that production on the Netflix blockbuster was supposed to take place this year but had to be delayed because of Will Smith’s schedule.
“We were going to do it this year, and then it didn't happen because of Will’s schedule,” Fry, who played Tikka the elf in the film, recently told ComicBook.com. “I really hope they do another one because I had so much fun making that movie. So, I just hope we get to do it again.”

Bright 2 was originally due to go into production in March, 2019, in Germany.
While its reviews were terrible and it cost much more than the site had previously spent on an original movie, Bright was very important for Netflix. Released just a few days before Christmas Day, 2017, Netflix eventually announced that Bright was viewed 11 million times by Americans in its first three days.
It was also viewed more times in its first week than any of Netflix’s other releases, so it was little surprise then the streaming giant ordered a sequel almost immediately.
Bright 2 sees almost all of the creative talent returning, too. Will Smith and Joel Edgerton will once again play LAPD officer Daryl Ward and the nation’s first orc officer Nick Jakoby, respectively, while David Ayer will direct and co-write the film with Evan Spiliotopoulos, too.

Of course, Max Landis, who wrote Bright, is almost certainly not going to be involved in Bright 2, as he was recently accused of abusing at least eight women of emotional and sexual abuse.
Obviously we still don’t know when Bright 2 will be released, but if production is scheduled for 2020 then it will most likely arrive at some point in 2021.
