Thor: Love And Thunder star Tessa Thompson has confirmed that Christian Bale will be playing the villain in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster.

After being asked for an update on Love And Thunder by ET Online, Thompson responded, “Christian Bale’s gonna play our villain, which is gonna be fantastic. I've read the script. I can't tell you much. Lots of exciting text messages exchanged between Natalie and I. We're going to have fun. Taika is writing [and] directing. Some familiar faces. Some new people coming into the mix."

The Natalie that Thompson is referring to is none other than Natalie Portman, as the Oscar winning actress is returning as Jane Foster for the film, which will see her turn into a female version of Thor.

The critical acclaim for 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok means that Love And Thunder, which is once again being written and directed by Kiwi filmmaker Taika Waititi, is arguably the most anticipated upcoming blockbuster from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Waititi is clearly aware of that, as he has already spoke about Love And Thunder eclipsing its predecessor. Waititi previously Wired, "If you take Ragnarok, which I feel was a very outlandish and big, bombastic film, we're trying double down on everything we did with that and create something that is even more crazy and even more of a big adventure.”

We’ll get to see if he can do just that, and just how villainous Bale’s character is, when Thor: Love And Thunder is released on November 5, 2021.

Before that point, though, we have Black Widow, The Eternals, Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, and Spider-Man 3 all to enjoy, though.
