Tickets finally go on sale for Christopher Nolan's 'Tenet'
It looks like Christopher Nolan is going to get his wish, as tickets have finally gone on sale for his new film Tenet, making it the first big blockbuster in cinemas following the global coronavirus lockdown.
The long-awaited sci-fi thriller, starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki and more, was originally due to hit cinemas on 17 July. However, as the pandemic evolved, it was subsequently delayed but has since landed on a final UK release date of 26 August.
The Dark Knight filmmaker was adamant his film would not go straight to digital like Mulan or Trolls World Tour, as he wanted to support the beleaguered cinema industry which has suffered months of closures
“We’re extraordinarily excited about what we’ve been able to do with this material,” Nolan told the virtual CineEurope convention, via Deadline. “I think of all the films that I’ve made, this is perhaps the one that is most designed for the audience experience, the big screen experience.”
“This is a film whose image and sound really needs to be enjoyed in your theatres on the big screen and we’re very very excited for you to see what it is we’ve done. We’ve made big films in the past, but this is a film whose global reach and level of action is beyond anything we’ve ever attempted before.”
In response to tickets going on sale Vue has announced plans to reopen its remaining venues across the country in two phases, on Friday 21, August and Wednesday, 26 August. This follows the successful re-opening of 10 Vue sites across the UK already.

And to celebrate tickets going on sale, IMAX has shared new assets to promote seeing the film in the large-screen format, as many sequences of Tenet were shot using IMAX cameras.
The film will arrive in the US, the world’s biggest box office market, on 3 September over Labor Day weekend in select cities.
There are also a number of new posters for the film doing the rounds online too.
