Colleen Hoover's Verity film adaption: What we know so far as Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett join cast
Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett have both been confirmed to join the previously announced Anne Hathaway for Verity, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s 2018 book.
Amazon MGM Studios is backing the film, which will see Hathaway again link up with director Michael Showalter, whom she previously worked with on The Idea of You.
Hoover’s most recent book-to-screen adaption It Ends With Us was a box office sensation when released in August but is now back in the news after star Blake Lively accused director Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment on the set.
Here is the latest news on the film.
What do we know about Colleen Hoover’s Verity adaptation?
It was announced back in 2020 that Amazon Studios had the rights for the adaptation, with the screenplay being produced by April Maguire and Will Honley.
Hathaway will star as the titular Verity Crawford and it has now been announced that Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett will also be on the cast list.
Hartnett will play Verity’s husband Jeremy while Johnson will play Lowen Ashleigh.
Meanwhile, fans can purchase and stream It Ends With Us on Apple TV+ and Prime Video.
They can also anticipate the future adaptation of Regretting You, another Hoover novel, which is scheduled to begin production in 2025, according to Deadline.
What is Verity about?
Lowen Ashleigh, a writer on the verge of financial collapse, accepts “the job offer of a lifetime” in Verity.
Ashleigh starts working for Verity Crawford, a successful novelist, and her husband, Jeremy Crawford, after Verify is incapacitated in a mysterious car accident.
Ashleigh discovers that things are not as they seem when she gets to the Crawford mansion. Through an incomplete manuscript, she unearths a mystery that could reveal terrifying details about the family's past, including murder.
Ashleigh must decide as she works if Verity's writing show the warning signs of a psychopath or are merely the product of a darkly imaginative mind.
Verity was a self-published novel in 2018 but went on to become a New York Times bestseller.
