Conan Sequel Still Coming Says Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed that the long-in gestation Conan sequel is still in development, also revealing a new title for the project formerly known as ‘The Legend of Conan’.

The film will now be called ‘Conan The Conqueror’ according to Arnie, who was speaking at his ‘Experience With Arnold Schwarzenegger’ Q&A events being held in the UK this week (via The Arnold Fans).

He told the crowd he and writer/producer Chris Morgan “are meeting with directors at this moment. Interest is high, many are fans of ‘Conan’, but we are not rushing. We have a great script and now we need the right director for the job”.

The project has been in the pipeline since Schwarzenegger returned to acting and the failure of 2011′s reboot, which starred future ‘Aquaman’ star Jason Momoa and barely made back half of its budget at the box office.

It will follow-up Arnie’s 1982 original - a cult classic and one of the key films in the Austrian body builder’s Hollywood career.

Describing ‘Conan The Conqueror’s plot Schwarzenegger said: “I’m sitting on the throne for years and years – decades, and then all of the sudden, the time comes when they want to overthrow me. So that story will be told and that movie will be done”.

The problem for Arnie is the undisputed turkey that was ‘Terminator Genisys’ which was panned by critics and did merely okay at the box office. Last week Paramount shelved the planned sequels, which would have bolstered Arnie’s box office cred when trying to get this film made.
