Sales of Corona Beer Going Up Fast & Furiously
When Vin Diesel told Paul Walker in the first Fast and the Furious movie that he could have any beer he wants, “as long as it’s a Corona,” America really took the big man’s words to heart.

According to a new Wall Street Journal report, sales of Corona in the US have soared over 10% in the last 5 years, with its new American producer, Constellation Brands, brewing and shipping over 7.8 million barrels of the stuff per year. Corona is now the biggest imported beer in the country and the fifth biggest brew overall, and the Corona cascade has been so overwhelming, Constellation is concerned they might not be able to meet demand.
It’s not clear that The Fast and the Furious series has anything to do with this of course, but the Mexican beer has been featured throughout the blockbuster franchise’s seven-film run. (In the most recent edition, Furious 7, Diesel and costar Kurt Russell even debate the merits of Belgian ale versus Dominic Toretto’s favorite longnecks.) In the same general timeframe that has seen the series go from side-note to blockbusting money machine and beloved institution, sales of Corona have also skyrocketed.
