‘Coronation Street’ love triangle between Toyah, Nick and Leanne finally explodes
The ‘Coronation Street’ love triangle between Toyah, Nick and Leanne has finally exploded.
Toyah Battersby (played by Georgia Taylor) has found herself in the arms of sister Leanne’s husband-to-be Nick (Ben Price), after the pair’s long struggle to persuade her sibling to step away from sinister cult The Institute, led by Rowan (Emrhys Cooper.)
With Leanne’s relationship with Nick in freefall, Monday (10.06.24) night’s episode of the ITV soap saw her storm out of their flat – leaving Toyah to comfort Nick in more ways than one.
The pair shared passionate clinch, leaving viewers wondering whether Nick and Leanne (Jane Dawson) will last, or if he and Toyah’s blossoming affair will take off.
Actress Georgia, 44, said: “It’s really confusing for Toyah. Nick is to all intents and purposes her brother-in-law and they haven’t always got on, so it’s not like she’s been harbouring some secret attraction.
“So this has hit her out of the blue – they’ve both been there for each other these last few weeks when life has been really tough and those feelings are starting to get a little bit blurred.
Toyah loves her sister but every time she feels guilty for leaning on Nick, Leanne does something to push her away again.
“It’s difficult when you're angry at someone, but you also feel guilty for something you’ve done to them. It’s very conflicting for Toyah.”
Recent scenes have seen Toyah arrested for murder after the body of her stillborn baby was found in the park after a series of face-offs with cult leader Rowan.
When Toyah received a bouquet of yellow roses, Leanne sheepishly admitted she told Rowan about Toyah’s baby.
Georgia said about their row: “Toyah feels massively betrayed, because at first Leanne denies that she told Rowan, then even when it does come out and she knows she’s lied, Leanne is still on the backfoot and trying to deny it.
“Leanne won’t accept that Rowan would do anything like that because she just thinks he’s this perfect human.
“It feels like the ultimate betrayal because when Toyah’s at her most vulnerable, when she’s grieving the loss of a child, she still feels like her sister’s not there for her.”
Nick has slapped Leanne with an ultimatum: him or Rowan.
But his demand left her raging – although she later vowed she’d never cheat on Nick.
