The Marvel movie had its US premiere in New York City on Monday, 22 July
Deadpool and Wolverine had its US premiere on Monday, 22 July, and the stars came out in their droves to support the film on its big night.
The Marvel film marks Ryan Reynolds' first outing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as the return of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine after he departed the role in 2017's Logan. It sees their titular characters team up in order to save the MCU after Deadpool is tasked by the Time Variance Authority with doing so.
As well as Reynolds and Jackman, Cassandra Nova star Emma Corrin stepped out in support of the film at the premiere as well as an array of Hollywood's biggest names. From Blake Lively to Gigi Hadid, Dafne Keen and more, celebrities dressed in their finest to grace the red carpet at New York City's Lincoln Center and get their first glimpse at the finished film.
Many of the guests dressed in red or yellow to symbolise Deadpool and Wolverine's colours, with Lively and Hadid doing it best in their contrasting ensembles. Lively, who many believe is playing Lady Deadpool in the film, dressed as her husband's character in a red satin and black lace jumpsuit, while Hadid represented Wolverine's team in a yellow pleather two-piece.
It wasn't just the brightest stars of Hollywood who turned out for the film premiere as several US critics also had the chance to watch the film, and afterwards many of them celebrated the film as one of the best Marvel films in years. The first reactions for Deadpool and Wolverine were full of praise, with many sharing their initial thoughts on X.

Collider's Maggie Lovitt said: "#DeadpoolAndWolverine is THE superhero nostalgia fest you’ve been waiting for. If you’ve been suffering from 'superhero fatigue' this will be a f**king shock to your system that will have you laughing, screaming, and crying. 10/10 no notes."
While entertainment anchor Jake Hamilton wrote: "DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE is Marvel’s PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES. What does that mean? It means it’s both wildly hilarious and genuinely (and heartbreakingly) meaningful. Top 10 Marvel — not because of its cameos, because of its heart. This movie doesn’t just exist — it MATTERS."
Den of Geek's Joe George was equally as praiseworthy, writing: "#DeadpoolAndWolverine is first and foremost a Deadpool movie, secondly a backhanded celebration of non-MCU Marvel movies, and also a declaration that the MCU is best. Jackman’s locked in and Corrin’s a lot of fun."
Film critic Tessa Smith also said of the film: "Deadpool & Wolverine is an absolute blast! It's everything Marvel fans want & more. I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time & even teared up. The needle drops are! Incredible cameos. Fantastic action! I'm gonna watch this again & again & again!"

While Variety's Clayton Davis wrote: "#DeadpoolandWolverine makes the 11-year-old version of me throughly happy. As a standalone, the first half starts rocky, but the second is where it comes alive and delivers all the action and promises we've waited decades for, with great surprises. Ryan and Hugh forever."
Film critic Michael Lee remarked on how the film is a "deliciously self- deprecating, ruthlessly violent, absolutely hilarious buddy roadtrip action comedy with a sick soundtrack", the podcaster added: "This is the MCU multiverse film we’ve been waiting for."
Luckily for the fans waiting impatiently to see the new Marvel film, it won't be long before they have the chance to do so.
Deadpool & Wolverine premieres in UK cinemas on Thursday, 25 July.
