Don Cheadle has waded into a brewing row about his Avengers cast-mate Brie Larson, after a body language expert slammed her in an online video that’s now gone viral.
Playing into the continuing – and tedious – trolling of Larson for her role in the MCU, the Captain Marvel star was taken to task for an interview during the Avengers: Endgame press tour.
In it, ‘body language expert’ Mandy O’Brien, who has previously been accused of conservative bias in her online assessments – she’s appeared on far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos’s show in the past – accuses Larson of ‘trying to dominate’ he co-interviewees, Cheadle and Chris Hemsworth.
“I guess in her mind, domination equals acceptance… In reality, submission will get you a lot further in friendship circles than trying to dominate and boss everyone around,” she says, even suggesting that Larson is ‘disgusted’ by Cheadle and Hemsworth, and clearly dislikes them.
She goes on to call Larson ‘unprofessional’, says she gives ‘bedroom eyes’ to Hemsworth, noting Larson’s ‘stiffness’ compared to Cheadle and Hemsworth’s ‘relaxed’ demeanour, and surmising that she was ‘trying to be taller than these gentlemen’.
The video has now gone viral, and has, unsurprisingly, been seized upon by sexist trolls, but Cheadle has something to say about that, eviscerating one Twitter user who called Larson ‘a psycho’.
He explained that rather than trying to be superior, her ‘stiffness’ was very easily explained, making something of a mockery of O’Brien’s assessment.
“You should see my ‘body language’ right now,” Cheadle tweeted.
“This is some of the funniest stuff i’ve ever heard. Brie was trying to keep her ponytail behind her because her hair stylist kept flying in and fixing it. She’s actually being over accommodating. Amazing.”
Larson has been the subject of shameful trolling ever since the release of Captain Marvel, which quickly topped $1 billion at the box office.
The movie was targeted with faked bad reviews even before it was released.
