Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart In Talks For Jumanji Remake

Are Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kevin Hart the new great big screen double act? It seems some people must think so, as the actors - set to be seen together in the upcoming comedy ‘Central Intelligence’ - are said to be in ‘early talks’ to co-headline another major movie.

Variety report that Johnson and Hart are in line to star in Sony’s upcoming remake of ‘Jumanji,’ the fantasy adventure based on Chris Van Allsburg’s book, previously shot in 1995 by director Joe Johnston, with Robin Williams and a young Kirsten Dunst.

The original starred Williams as a man who had been trapped in the jungle world of the mystical board game for 26 years, having started playing as a child, and is only freed when Dunst and her brother (Bradley Pierce) start playing the game again.

Together with the now grown-up girl Williams’ character played with back in 1969 (Bonnie Hunt), they must complete the game before it transforms their home town into a jungle.

Notably, the original story does not feature two adult male leads, so if Johnson and Hart are set to star then we can safely assume this new take from director Jake Kasdan will have reworked the premise somewhat.

At present, a question mark still hangs over Johnson and Hart’s casting owing to the busy schedules of both men.

Currently at work on the ‘Baywatch’ movie, Johnson will later this year shoot ‘Fast & Furious 8′ as well as season three of HBO series ‘Ballers’ - plus he has action thriller ‘Rampage,’ a sequel to ‘San Andreas,’ and Warner Bros/DC movie ‘Shazam’ in the pipeline.

Hart, meanwhile, will reportedly spend this summer shooting ‘The Intouchables’ (a remake of a 2011 French comedy drama) alongside Bryan Cranston.

If all goes to plan, ‘Jumanji’ will shoot this autumn ahead of a summer 2017 release.

Meanwhile, Johnson and Hart (who also co-hosted the recent MTV 2016 Movie Awards) will be seen together in ‘Central Intelligence’ in UK cinemas on 1 July.
