Eric Church's Nashville Bar Chief's on Broadway References Morgan Wallen's Arrest with Its Marquee

Wallen was arrested on three felony counts for throwing a chair off the roof of the Nashville bar Chief's on Broadway on Sunday night

The bar and restaurant owned by Eric Church where Morgan Wallen was arrested is playfully weighing in on the incident.

Less than 48 hours after Wallen, 30, was arrested in Nashville on Sunday, April 7 for allegedly throwing a chair off the rooftop restaurant Rodney Scott's Whole Hog BBQ — which is located on the top floor of Church's music venue, bar and restaurant Chief's on Broadway — the establishment updated its marquee with a reference to the incident.

As of Tuesday, April 9, the marquee outside of Chief's reads, "OUR PIGS FLY OUR CHAIRS DON'T," above the name of the BBQ joint.

The official Instagram for Chief's shared a photo of the marquee on Tuesday, as well as a full shot of the six-story building, taken from across the street to show its scale.

"See you at Chief’s 🪽🐷🪽," the live music venue wrote in the caption.

In the comments, a handful of followers who caught the reference shared their reaction.

"Own the marketing I guess 😂," one person replied, while another added, "This is marketing gold🔥🙌❤️."

One comment from singer-songwriter Kyle Elliott even responded with a nod to the lyrics of Church's song lyrics from the 2009 hit "Smoke a Little Smoke." "Turned the quiet up and threw a chair down," he responded.

Chief's opened its doors last week on Friday, April 5. The latest addition to Nashville's bustling main drag on Broadway prides itself on featuring "different floors for different experiences," many of which include nods to Church's career and North Carolina upbringing.

The new Nashville hot-spot opened with a special performance from the "Drink in My Hand" singer, 46, as he's in the midst of playing a residency at the venue's Neon Steeple live performance space that spans over 19 dates from now until early June.

Wallen visited Chief's on Broadway during its third night of operation when he allegedly threw a chair off the sixth story around 11 p.m. ET, leading to his arrest.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the country music star was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct and faced a $15,250 bond.

Metro Nashville police reported the arrest in a post on X (formerly Twitter) and shared that two police officers were standing in front of Chief's Bar at the time of the incident and watched the chair fall.

Over the years, the "Last Night" singer has cited Church as one of his mentors and the two have become close friends.

The two country music hitmakers also collaborated on the song "Man Made a Bar" off Wallen's hit 2023 album One Thing at a Time and have joined each other for select tour dates. They've also recently become business partners in a re-launch of Field & Stream.

Following another one of Wallen's past controversies when a video of himself saying the N-word surfaced online in early 2021, Church spent time with the rising hitmaker by going fishing.

The "Springsteen" singer also opened up to Billboard in an April 2021 interview that he was "heartbroken when it happened."

"I think Morgan's trying to work on that and on himself," Church added. "And I hope he does."
