Exclusive new Assassin’s Creed images reveal closer look at the Animus

The ‘Assassin’s Creed’ film sees Michael Fassbender’s character travel back in time through his ancestor’s memories using a sci-fi virtual reality invention known as the “Animus”.

The film, based on the hugely popular video game series, has reinvented the tool used to transport people back in time and so it looks vastly different to what’s come before.

In the games, the subjects lie back in the machine and access the memories of ancestors while laying still (think Keanu Reeves’ Neo in 'The Matrix’). However for the big screen the filmmakers have updated this element for a more visual cinema experience, so Fassbender has to physically move to mirror the actions of his visions of the past - think Idris Elba in 'Pacific Rim’.

Here we get a closer look at how it works in a more visual form.

The video below gives further insight into the Animus, how it works and how it’s used in the new 'Assassin’s Creed’ movie.
