Yahoo Movies Extraction 2 director teases possible Idris Elba spinoff

Extraction 2 director Sam Hargrave has teased fans about a possible spin-off project featuring Idris Elba's character, who appeared briefly in a mysterious role in the Netflix sequel.
Elba's character, who is referred to as the Man in the Suit or credited as Alcott, first recruits Chris Hemsworth's Tyler Rake at the beginning of the movie for a new mission. Then, at the end of the film, the Man in the Suit gets Rake out of prison and offers a new mission.
This teases the possibility of a future Rake movie as well as a project centred around Elba's mysterious man. In a new interview with Radio Times, director Hargrave and producer Anthony Russo discussed the possibility of such a spin-off.

"[It's] a classic example of a character who doesn't have a whole lot of screen time, but the screen time that he does have is fascinating and he commands the screen," Russo said.
"And that's part of the reason why we turned to him... just thinking about as we move forward with the storytelling, bringing in new elements into the narrative universe, that is very exciting, and combustible and intriguing."
Russo continued: "So I just know when I watched him in this film, I feel like 'oh, geez, there's more fun to be had with him!"

Hargrave said that Russo and his brother Joe, who wrote Extraction 2, know how to build out a cinematic universe from their time working with Marvel. He said that once they set up the Extraction universe, they looked to explore "different avenues" with other characters.
"What we wanted when we came up with [Elba's] character, is someone who's going to set this plot in motion and then give Rake an opportunity for another adventure should the second movie be a success."
"There's been talk of potentially another Tyler Rake story [and] there's potential for other characters go off with their own movies."
He continued: "That stuff has been talked about, but we'll see how the second one lands with audiences and if there's still an appetite for that, because it's better to leave people wanting more than it is to kind of saturate them."
Extraction 2 is currently streaming on Netflix.
