Ari Emanuel’s Endeavor Pay Package Hit Nearly $84 Million in 2023, Up More Than Four Times the Year Prior

Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel received a compensation package worth $83.9 million last year — more than four times his compensation in 2022.

Emanuel’s 2023 pay at Endeavor included $4.91 million in salary, a $34.65 million bonus and $43.47 million in stock awards, the company disclosed in a regulatory filing Thursday. In addition, his compensation included $608,039 in incremental travel costs for guests on business-related flights on Endeavor’s private jet.

Roughly three-fourths of that total was attributed to Emanuel’s role as CEO of TKO Group — the parent company of WWE and UFC in which Endeavor holds a controlling stake — from which he had a pay package in 2023 valued at $64.9 million. According to Endeavor’s filing, Emanuel’s total compensation attributable to Endeavor was $18.97 million last year, compared with $19.1 million in 2022.

Meanwhile, Emanuel’s compensation from Endeavor in 2021 came to a staggering $308 million, which mostly comprised stock grants vesting over several years that were contingent on the company’s stock price hitting certain milestones.

On April 2, Endeavor announced a plan to go private under a deal with private-equity firm Silver Lake that gives the company an equity value of $13 billion. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2025.

As with Emanuel, Endeavor’s reported compensation package for Mark Shapiro, who serves as president and COO of both Endeavor and TKO Group, was inclusive of his roles at both companies. Shapiro’s total 2023 pay was $38.85 million, of which $22.77 million was attributable to Endeavor and $16.1 million was attributable to TKO.

Patrick Whitesell, executive chairman of Endeavor, had a pay package worth $13.27 million last year, up from $12.2 million in 2022.

Endeavor’s holdings include talent agency WME, the IMG sports, fashion events and media company, and its 51% controlling interest in TKO Group.
