First look: Domhnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie in A.A. Milne biopic
Here’s out first look at Domhnall Gleeson playing A.A. Milne in the forthcoming biopic of the revered children’s author.
Milne created some of the most beloved children’s literature of all time, basing the world of the Winnie the Pooh on his son Christopher Robin’s toys.

Playing Milne’s wife Daphne is ‘Suicide Squad’ star Margot Robbie, alongside with ‘Boardwalk Empire’s Kelly Macdonald as the couple’s nanny and Will Tilston playing the young Chrisopher Robin.
Helming the project is Simon Curtis, who previously directed ‘Woman In Gold’ with Helen Mirren last year and ‘My Week With Marilyn’.
Meanwhile the script for the so-far untitled movie has been penned by novelist and Frank Cottrell-Boyce, best known for his work with Danny Boyle and Michael Winterbottom.
Principal photography is now underway in Oxfordshire, Surrey, East Sussex and London.
The current but brief synopsis reads:
‘The UNTITLED A.A. MILNE film gives a rare glimpse into the relationship between beloved children’s author A. A. Milne (Domhnall Gleeson) and his son Christopher Robin, whose toys inspired the magical world of Winnie the Pooh. Along with his mother Daphne (Margot Robbie), and his nanny Olive (Kelly Macdonald), Christopher Robin and his family are swept up in the international success of the books; the enchanting tales bringing hope and comfort to England after the First World War. But with the eyes of the world on Christopher Robin, what will the cost be to the family?’
