A Quiet Place: Day One director Michael Sarnoski has shared a first look photo of Stranger Things favourite Joseph Quinn on the set of the anticipated prequel.

Taking to Instagram, the filmmaker posted a snap of Quinn and his co-star Lupita Nyong'o (Black Panther) having "a quiet break" from filming on the floor, amid a mess likely made by the extraterrestrial creatures who now roam the earth.

Quinn and Nyong'o were both cast in this third instalment last year, though their roles remain under wraps.

The film's plot is also shrouded in secrecy, though its title suggests that it will follow the early days of the alien invasion on earth, when creatures who are sensitive to sound began walking amongst humans.

A Quiet Place creator John Krasinski confirmed that the prequel began production in February, sharing a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the set.

Krasinski, who starred in and directed the original film, will produce alongside Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, while Allyson Seeger serves as an executive producer.

Krasinski also has A Quiet Place Part III in the works, which will be released in 2025.

Speaking in 2021, A Quiet Place star Emily Blunt said:."I always said when we were approaching [Part II], I said, 'I think you need to think of it not as a sequel, but this is chapter two, this is just a continuation'.

"I think there's such an investment in this family – such mileage for expansion in this kind of extraordinary world. I think there's room [for a third one]."

A Quiet Place: Day One is scheduled to reach cinemas on March 8, 2024.
