The first trailer for murder mystery comedy See How They Run has landed, and it's got quite the ensemble cast.

The Agatha Christie pastiche features Iron Man 2's Sam Rockwell, Lady Bird's Saoirse Ronan, Inside No 9's Reece Shearsmith, The Grand Budapest Hotel's Adrien Brody, His Dark Materials' Ruth Wilson, The Witchfinders' Tim Key, Les Misérables' David Oyelowo, The King's Man's Harris Dickinson, This Country's Charlie Cooper, Harry Potter's Shirley Henderson, Game of Thrones' Lucian Msamati and Fleabag's Sian Clifford.

Rockwell and Ronan play a pair of police offers, an inspector and a rookie constable, respectively, who investigate the death of a Hollywood director who is working on a film adaptation of a well-loved play. The duo journey into the sordid world of the theatre, with egos and backstabbing aplenty.

A lot of the comedy comes from Ronan's Constable Stalker, who takes everything at face value and often jumps to conclusions, while Rockwell's Inspector Stoppard has clearly had enough of all of it.

The film is directed by Tom George, who previously helmed episodes of This Country and Defending the Guilty.

Meanwhile, Ruth Wilson is set to return to the small screen in the third and final season of His Dark Materials, due later this year.

Speaking about the latest run, the actress said: "[It's] definitely sort of the most ambitious, I think, of the three...

"It's huge themes and big ideas, so I think a lot of that comes in the third season. That's quite ambitious for all of us to deal with and to sort of put out there."

See How They Run is set for release in UK cinemas on September 9.
