A new trailer has landed for the sci-fi comedy The Pod Generation, which brings together two Marvel stars.

Secret Invasion's Emilia Clarke and Doctor Strange's Chiwetel Ejiofor play a married couple, Rachel and Alvy Novy, in the movie.

The Pod Generation sees the busy New York couple acknowledging they want to have a child together.

The trailer opens with a surreal scene of Rachel shopping at a supermarket which has hundreds of babies in car seats on shelves, as she says: "I have been having the strangest dreams..."

When she wakes, the impact of technology and AI in this future are apparent, with a giant eye animation dismissing how dreams are "so 20th century".

Set "sometime in a very near future", rising tech company executive Rachel learns she has managed to secure a coveted spot at the Womb Center, an institute that creates equal pregnancy via mobile, artificial pods.

However, Rachel confides in a friend that she hasn't yet told Alvy about the opportunity, as he would prefer that the couple conceive by themselves.

However, as the trailer unfolds, Alvy, a botanist who is keen for his child to have nature at the heart of their life, to comes around to the idea of the pods. And so, the pair embark on a journey of parenthood together.

Sophie Barthes directs The Pod Generation, with the movie also starring 1899's Rosalie Craig and The Lazarus Project's Vinette Robinson and Jean-Marc Barr.

The movie is set to be 109 minutes in length and land in US cinemas on August 11. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
