It Follows sequel confirmed with original star Maika Monroe returning
t Follows' sequel has been confirmed, with original star Maika Monroe set to return as lead character Jay Height.
The 2014 cult horror film followed Jay, a young woman who is chased by a supernatural being following a sexual encounter. Keir Gilchrist, Daniel Zovatto, Jake Weary, Olivia Luccardi and Lili Sepe also appeared in the movie in supporting roles.
According to Variety, Monroe will reunite with filmmaker David Robert Mitchell for the next instalment, titled They Follow. Mitchell returns as both writer and director, with Oscar-winning studio Neon — the studio behind Parasite — co-producing the horror.

The sequel also sees the return of the original producers of It Follows, David Kaplan, Erik Rommesmo, Rebecca Green and Laura Smith. Jake Weiner and Chris Bender of Good Fear Content will complete the producing team for They Follow.
Production for the new film is predicted to start in 2024. The team will be aiming for a successful release, ten years on from It Follows grossing an impressive $15 million on a shoe-string budget.
In other horror news, it has recently been announced that Neighbours' Yasmin Kassim will be starring in a TikTok-inspired crocodile horror.

The movie — which is in the early stages of pre-production — will see a huge crocodile make the headlines when its killing spree is caught on social media. President of Film Mode Entertainment and executive producer Clay Epstein shared his excitement at the announcement of the new film.
"We're thrilled to be working with prolific Jaggi Entertainment on TIK/CROC, a relevant and fresh take on a classic beloved genre, including the magic and mayhem that social media has brought to the world at large and has been ingrained in so many of us," he said. "The film will also attract a new generation of fans evident by the hugely successful Cocaine Bear."
They Follow doesn't have a release date yet.
