'Frozen II' heading for $100m debut
Box office analysts are predicting a huge debut weekend for the new Frozen movie.
According to the tracking of Frozen II, some six years in the making, it is set to debut to more than $100 million at the worldwide box office.
It's a ramp up from the first movie, which set records by making more than $93 million over its first five days on release in 2013.
It went on to become the biggest animated movie of all time, hauling in $1.3 billion, and beating previous record holder Toy Story 3.
The movie went on to win two Oscars, one for Best Animated Feature and a second for Best Original Song, for the anthem Let It Go.
Helmed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, it was also the highest-earning film by a female director on its release, only later surpassed by Wonder Woman in 2017.
Frozen II will pick up the story of Princesses Anna and Elsa as they seek to discover the origins of Elsa's magical powers.
Per the official synopsis: “Three years after the events of the first film, Elsa starts to hear a strange sound from the north calling her. Together with her sister Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, they embark on a new journey beyond their homeland of Arendelle in order to discover the origin of Elsa's magical powers and save their kingdom.”
Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell will return at Elsa and Anna, with Jonathan Groff as Kristoff and Josh Gad as Olaf.
Joining the cast are Evan Rachel Wood as Queen Iduna and Alfred Molina as King Agnarr, Anna and Elsa's parents, likely seen in flashback, and Martha Plimpton as Yelana, a tribal leader from the north.
It hit UK cinemas on November 22.
