Gal Gadot Reveals Gorgeous Wonder Woman Poster
The first poster for 2017’s ‘Wonder Woman’ solo movie is here – and, appropriately enough, it’s quite a wonder to behold.
Arriving as San Diego Comic Con is in full force, the poster was released via Twitter by none other than Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, who enthused, “A dream come true! Happy to finally share this with you all #brandspakingnew #WonderWoman #WWxSDCC”
We suspect she meant to use hashtag #brandspankingnew… but who can blame her for getting a little over-excited? Just look at this poster.
As with the stills released from the Patty Jenkins-directed movie last week, the poster really emphasises the classic colours of the original superheroine’s costume – something which was not always evident in her ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ cameo.
Add in the mystical backdrop, and the four words, ‘power, grace, wisdom, wonder,’ (with the Ws emphasised on those last two words), and this is really quite an evocative, eye-catching image – and, again, one which implies a far greater sense of hope than ‘Batman V Superman’ provided.
Even so, we mustn’t forget that ‘Dawn of Justice’ director Zack Snyder is still co-writer and producer on ‘Wonder Woman,’ so no doubt his sensibilities will still be in evidence – and Gadot herself has remarked that the film will be “pretty dark.”
It’s not surprising that the film may present a more upbeat take on the character, given that it’s set a full century before ‘Batman V Superman’ during World War 1, and sees the immortal Amazon princess enter the world of men for the first time.
Gadot says, “We go back 100 years to when she’s more naïve… She’s this young idealist. She’s pure. Very different to the experienced, super-confident, grown-up woman you’ve seen.”
Director Patty Jenkins has said, “The natural spirit of Gal is Wonder Woman…She’s so kind, so good, so beautiful and capable of being sexy, but not in a way that makes other women uncomfortable. It’s what Wonder Woman should be.”
The supporting cast includes Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis and David Thewlis.
‘Wonder Woman’ opens 2 June 2017.
