Game Of Thrones season 8 - everything we know from the leaks

The end of Game Of Thrones is coming, with just six feature-length episodes left before we find out exactly who ends up on the Iron Throne.

It’s arguably the most anticipated telly event of the decade, with fan theories and leaks alike flying around the internet faster than an ice dragon with Jon Snow in its sights.

We’ve brought together some of the best leaks from the set, in an attempt to predict exactly what’ll happen in season eight.

Starks and Targaryens are coming together in a major way

Some clever designer has combined the Stark and Targaryen sigils for a bit of wrap-party decoration. Which is pretty weird, unless it’s a clue to something that happens in season eight.

Off the back of this, we predict Game Of Thrones season eight will feature another wedding – officially bringing Dany and Jon together, and this sigil will appear for the first time during the episode.

Though, don’t expect it to be a happy occasion. Game Of Thrones weddings don’t tend to go very well.

Arya will get bloody

So, Maisie Williams posted a picture of blood-stained trainers (unless season eight involves time travel, we assume she was allowed to wear comfy shoes during an action scene that wouldn’t feature her feet) with the following caption:

‘goodbye belfast. goodbye arya. goodbye game of thrones. what a joy i’ve had. here’s to the adventures to come #lastwomanstanding #barely #immasleepforthenextfouryears #justkiddingidontsleep’

Now, call us crazy conspiracy theorists but, despite the presence of that ‘last woman standing’ hashtag, we don’t actually think that Williams would be allowed to post such a huge spoiler.

But why has she posted at all? Our theory: Arya dies early in season eight, and this is all part of a massive misdirect. After all, unless she’s wading through puddles of blood, only a close wound would cause that kind of trainer-gore.

King’s Landing is going to burn

Some fans wondered why the Game Of Thrones production designers went to the trouble of recreating the dome that sits atop St Blaise’s Church in Dubrovnik – building a new version in Belfast. Well, if this leaked video is to be believed, it’s because they couldn’t very well set the real one on fire, for what looks like one of the biggest action set-pieces the show’s seen.

So, expect King’s Landing to be absolutely devastated by dragons in season eight. We just hope there’ll still be an Iron Throne to sit on by the time it’s all over. Iron melts, you know.

The Dragonpit will return

A significant number of actors turned up in Seville, and were allowed to post whatever they wanted onto social media, which is a bit of a break from tradition.

Fans have suggested that this was part of a big misdirect, as so many actors have been shipped over to Spain – including Tom Wlaschiha (Jaqen H’ghar) and Faye Marsay (the Waif), who are unlikely to appear in that location – HBO are using supplementary cast to stop people from predicting what’ll happen in the episode.

Why go to all of this effort? Because it’s actually pretty easy to guess what’s happening from this particular location – it’s where the Dragonpit is, so whoever’s there is likely to feature in a scene involving it. Even more fascinatingly, Sophie Turner and Peter Dinklage’s doubles have also been spotted in the area, which means there could be an action scene involving the pair.

Will the married couple team up against Dany and Jon? There were certainly seeds of discontent from both Sansa and Tyrion at the end of season seven, so this feels plausible.

The Wildlings will go to King’s Landing

A weird structure covered in furs, with what looks like arrow holes dotted around it, has been spotted in Belfast, as part of the King’s Landing set.

Our interpretation? This looks like Wildling tech, so presumably a Wildling army will advance on the city – which is probably Cersei’s worst nightmare. Wildings are gross.

We’re going to see the biggest battle in the show’s history

Eagle-eyed fans have spotted several significant Game Of Thrones elements gathering at Magheramorne Quarry, including the largest green screen ever deployed by the show, and large trucks of horses and extras all headed towards it.

The location has been used for Castle Black, and for the Battle Of Blackwater Bay, and for, well, basically any massive sequence you’ve seen on the show. But all the leaks makes this look like the largest sequence ever attempted by the series.

This is less a fan theory than the most obvious thing in the world – HBO is going to want season eight to be the most epic series yet, so of course it’ll have the biggest scrap we’ve ever seen.
