Article updated on 29/09/2022: George Clooney previously shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live that he and his wife Amal Clooney 'did a really dumb thing' teaching their twins Italian, since the couple don't speak the language themselves.

During a recent CBS Mornings appearance on Wednesday, September 28 the actor elaborated on their big regret.

While discussing their now five-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, host Gayle King asked if the kids are 'chatty'.

Clooney responded: 'We've made a terrible mistake. We taught them Italian.'

'But we don't speak Italian, so we've armed them with a language they can harm us with. And we both don't really know what they're saying.'

He confirmed the kids speak both Italian and French, but shared: 'I'm from Kentucky, English is my second language.'

International law and human rights lawyer Amal also revealed one of the twins' hidden talents, sharing that Alexander is 'a big prankster'. The 44-year-old explained her famous husband has taught his son many tricks that he now likes to use them on his dad.

The actor added that while his son's favourite superhero is Batman, he's not fascinated about knowing his dad used to portray him. 'I go, "you know, I was Batman," and he goes, "yeah, but not anymore,"' he recalled.

'If only he knew how true that was.'

Earlier this month, the 61-year-old also spoke about the language barrier when referring to the interests his twins might have in the future.

When asked whether his twins might pursue acting later on in life, Clooney told Entertainment Tonight: 'They can do whatever they want. My guess is that they're a little smarter than me, so, they'll probably do something — they already speak three languages, so, I'm still working on English.'

The Clooneys celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary on Tuesday.

George Clooney has opened up about the twins he shares with his wife, Amal Clooney.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live in December 2020, the actor shared the secret skills his three-year-old children, Ella and Alexander have mastered... much to the dismay of their parents.

'We did a really dumb thing,' the the 59-year-old explained. 'They speak fluent Italian, I mean fluent Italian at three.'

While this is extremely impressive, the actor then revealed that he and his human rights barrister wife have gotten caught out by their children's language skills.

'But I don't speak Italian, my wife doesn't speak Italian. So.. it's terrible, we've armed them with a language,' Clooney explained going on to joke: 'I'll say, "go back and clean your room" and they'll say: "Eh, papa stronzo," [which an Italian colleague tells ELLE translates to 'daddy asshole' ] and I'm like, "What?"

Last week, the actor recently spoke to CBS ahead of the release of his upcoming Netflix film The Midnight Sky, which sees Clooney play a scientist who attempts to warn some incoming astronauts about a global catastrophe on earth, while also caring for his daughter.

When asked about the parallels between the film and his personal life about having someone to care for as a motivator to keep you going, Clooney spoke about his love for his family.

'There is no question that having Amal in my life changed everything for me,' he said. 'It was the first time that everything that she did and everything about her was infinitely more important than anything about me.

'And then we had these two knuckleheads, and it is very fulfilling, and it's something I wasn't at all... didn't see coming.'

The actor, who was long regarded as one of the most famous eligible bachelors, continued saying he and Amal - who he married in 2014 during a ceremony in Lake Como, Italy - did not initially plan to get married.

'We never talked about marriage when we were dating. And I asked her out of the blue. Took her a long time to say yes. I was on my knee for like 20 minutes. I finally said, "Look, I'm gonna throw my hip out."'

Clooney said the same about the couple's decision to have children, saying that it was something they didn't necessarily plan for in their lives. The couple welcomed their children in June 2017, with Amal giving birth in London. At the time, her publicist joked in a statement: 'Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine... George is sedated and should recover in a few days.'

'We never talked about having kids. And then one day we just said, "What do you think?"', the actor noted.

The Oscar winner then divulged his shock at finding out he was going to be a father to not one, but two children, as Amal was surprisingly carrying twins.

'We go to the doctor and you do the ultrasound and like, "Hey, you got a baby boy". I said, "Baby boy, fantastic!" Then they go, "And you got another one there." And I was like … I was up for one, you know? Cause, again, I'm old. All of a sudden it's, like, two? You know, it's hard to get me to not talk. And I just stood there for like 10 minutes, staring at this piece of paper going … two … silently. But I'm so glad they have each other, you know?'

Amal previously discussed having children and balancing spending time with them with a highly pressurised job as a lawyer.

'Between six and eight in the morning we get to have them in our bed—I don’t schedule any calls before eight,' she told Vogue in 2018. 'When I was nursing, it was much more complicated, because there are two. I had all manner of weird cushions and pillows and machines.'

According to George, the interviewer claimed daughter Ella looks exactly like her mother while Alexander resembles his father.
