George Miller has met with Anya Taylor-Joy for Furiosa-led 'Mad Max' spin-off
George Miller has met with Anya Taylor-Joy for a major role in his planned Mad Max spin-off focused on Fury Road breakout star Furiosa.
Variety reported that Miller is one of a number of Hollywood figures currently using the hiatus in production on just about every movie in the world to tee up projects for when the dust settles.
Emma and The Witch star Taylor-Joy is one of several actors the director has met with over Skype for a role in the film.

Miller reportedly hopes to shoot the Furiosa spin-off — inspired by Charlize Theron’s performance in 2015 Oscar winner Mad Max: Fury Road — in 2021.
The project has been mooted ever since Theron’s character became a fan favourite in that film, stealing the show from Tom Hardy’s take on “road warrior” Max Rockatansky.
There is no information on the role for which Taylor-Joy is being considered, including whether she will replace Charlize Theron in the role of Furiosa.
Miller has repeatedly asserted that a Mad Max: Fury Road sequel is inevitable and he revealed last year that he would work on the film alongside current project Three Thousand Years of Longing.

It has been unclear whether the sequel in question would be a Furiosa spin-off or the oft-discussed follow-up The Wasteland.
The latter movie has been held up by a legal battle between Miller and Warner Bros, though the dust on that seems to have settled.
Taylor-Joy will next be seen in the long-delayed X-Men movie The New Mutants, which is one of several Fox/Disney films to be on indefinite hold during the current coronavirus pandemic.
The unfortunate movie has missed an array of release dates over the last few years, and its fate now remains uncertain once again.
She will also be seen later this year in Edgar Wright’s London-set horror movie Last Night in Soho, which is due for release in the UK on 18 September.
