How to get Saoirse Ronan’s undone look. (Photo: Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP)
At the ripe old age of 21, Saoirse Ronan is already an Oscar vet, so it’s no wonder the Best Actress nominee looked so breezy and relaxed on the red carpet. Or maybe that was her hair talking.
“I wanted to give her an undone, textured blowout with a brushed-out, beautiful wave hand-raked back away from the face,” hairstylist Adir Abergel said.
The Brooklyn star’s emerald green gown is what inspired him to go that route. Here’s how he achieved it:
First, he applied John Frieda Luxurious Volume Perfectly Full Mousse all over Ronan’s roots on towel-dried hair and air-dried it with cold air to achieve maximum volume. Using a medium-size round brush, he dried the hair applying hot air to form the style.
Then he went old-school, dividing all of Ronan’s hair into two-inch sections to wrap into Velcro rollers to cool and set. He sprayed John Frieda Luxurious Volume Forever Full Hairspray before removing the rollers, and after removing them he applied more spray to a Mason Pearson brush and brushed the hair into soft, textured, sexy waves.
That voluminous, side-swept effect comes from back-combing the front pieces of her hair. Finally, Abergel misted her with John Frieda Luxurious Volume Forever Full Hairspray, to keep the look in place all night.
