'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' teaser trailer show Egon Spengler's family resurrecting the brand
The first teaser trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife has been released by Sony Pictures. Watch it above.
Picking up the story 30 years on from the events of Ghostbusters 2, which saw New York under attack from supernatural forces, Afterlife sees the descendants of Harold Ramis’ Egon Spengler moving into the former paranormal investigator’s remote farm house.
Strange things are happening in the sleepy town of Summerville, as Trevor and Phoebe (Finn Wolfhard and McKenna Grace) soon find out, after moving into Spengler’s “creepy old farm house” which is still full of his old Ghostbusters gear.
Amongst his dusty old possessions they find a ghost trap, a Proton Pack, and the iconic ECTO-1 Ectomobile, which the two kids are seen driving around in the teaser.

They’re in hot pursuit a ghost, who we presume gets accidentally released from a trap by Paul Rudd’s teacher character Mr. Grooberson. We also catch a glimpse of the demon dogs that terrorised Rick Moranis’ character in the original 1984 film, jumping onto his car.
Harold Ramis sadly died in 2014, but original stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver are said to be returning for the 2020 film.
Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, the director of the 1984 original, directs from a script he co-wrote with Gil Kenan (Monster House/Poltergeist remake).
