Ghostbusters Star Leslie Jones “In Hell” Following Vile Racist Abuse On Twitter

The online campaign of hate towards the new ‘Ghostbusters’ film took a sinister turn overnight with one of the film’s stars being moved to tears by racist abuse on Twitter.

Actress and comedian Leslie Jones, who plays MTA worker-turned Ghostbuster Patty Tolan, found herself bombarded on Twitter by trolls sending her relentless racist abuse, some of which she screengrabbed and shared with her 175k followers.

“I’m so tired of it,” she posted, “Why is this still a fight? I want to hate so bad but I can’t because I know it doesn’t fix anything and just make me sad.”

She then appealed to Twitter itself to do something about the troll culture on the social media platform, with Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey personally reaching out to the comedian to help her out.

Soon after she posted another message saying the abuse had put her in her own “personal hell”, before she signed off for the night “with tears and a very sad heart.”

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ star John Boyega replied urging her to “find peace”, while the film’s director Paul Feig replied “You did nothing to deserve this. The Internet is filled with good people but there a few pieces of s*** out there.”

‘Ghostbusters’ is in cinemas now.
