It's time for the final outing with the Guardians of the Galaxy and we can probably expect the unexpected, but maybe nothing more unexpected than the sight of Nebula dancing.
As teased in the trailers, there's a moment in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 where Nebula busts some moves, and for Karen Gillan, it ended up being an uplifting filming experience that went beyond the character.
"It was really beautiful to shoot the scene where she just lets loose and there's an amazing song playing, 'Dog Days Are Over' by Florence + the Machine, and it felt euphoric in a way," Gillan told Digital Spy.
"Even though I was playing Nebula, I was also feeling we just had the most epic decade of our lives. I've had the best time with all of these people and playing this character and so, in a weird way, that was me actually just letting loose and feeling quite triumphant in everything that we've done. It was nice for me personally and for the character."
As Dave Bautista told Digital Spy back in February 2023, the filming of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 was also an emotional one as we know it's the final time we'll see this cast all together – and that wasn't lost on Gillan either.
"I was holding on to a fair amount of denial. I don't want it to be over, I'm too sad to say goodbye, but every time we do one of these, it starts to become more real," she explained.
"This movie is about to be released to the world and then that's it, and it's amazing but it's bittersweet and sad and it's all of the emotions."
Pom Klementieff added: "It feels sad, but I feel very grateful to have been able to experience this rollercoaster of emotions with the cast and James [Gunn], and to play with these really unique and fun and strong and amazing characters."
While it might be sad to say goodbye to these a-holes, the first reactions to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 suggest that they're going out on a high at least.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is released in UK cinemas on May 3 and in US cinemas on May 5.
