You can read a selection of reviews below:
Slate
"[The] visual presentation and rapid-fire dialogue make [it] instantly recognizable as Anderson's, but [the] tone takes him into territory so unexpected it might be disorienting if his hand were not so sure."
The New Yorker
"Lest viewers become even briefly comfortable with the enchantments of his staging and of his actors’ performances, Anderson jolts them alert with ever more audacious contrivances."
Ready Steady Cut
"There is all sorts going on here; smatterings of humour with a bit of appreciation for rodent cunning giving way to something very close to outright horror."
Polygon
"It has the softest emotional impact of Anderson's four shorts, though that doesn’t make it less intriguing."
Cinefilia
"In its 17 minutes of length, Anderson goes straight to the point to atomize, within his stylistic quirks, a very entertaining short story about men and rats."
The Straits Times
"Anderson plays with contrasts with precision. The warm yellow-brown tint of the frame, Ayoade's poker-faced narration and Claud's sense of shock undercut the creepiness with just the right amount of humour."
The Rat Catcher is streaming on Netflix.
