Here are the worst movie posters of all time, according to the internet
Creating the perfect movie poster is a pretty tough gig. You need to sell the film, set the mood, show off its scale, while also finding room for the actors involved, all of which needs to be done in a cool, artistic and eye-grabbing fashion.
When these creations are done right they can help to secure a film’s place in pop culture history. But when they’re done wrong they’re just a disgrace.
Still, they’re fun to look at though. In fact, an entire Reddit thread popped up earlier this week dedicated to “The Worst Movie Posters Ever”. You can check out some of the candidates below.
User sunshinecid decided to kick start the conversation after he stumbled across this atrocious ‘Fifth Element’ poster, which somehow makes Bruce Willis look like Donald Trump and includes what appears to be a Smurf on acid with a table cloth running through its head.
It wasn’t long before these atrocious posters for ‘X-Men: First Class’ were posted to the thread.
Not only are they cheap and look as though a five-year has cut out a silhouette of both Magneto and Professor X, but it also appears as though the characters have eaten Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, respectively, who are now trying to escape head first through their stomachs.
The poster for ’Hit By Lightning’ is a rare case of a poster actually being more famous than the movie itself.
That’s because, shortly after the obviously atrociously designed poster was released its star Will Sasso immediately poked fun at with his own r-rated design.
Clearly the ‘X-Men’ franchise just can’t get their posters right. But while the above is nowhere near as inflammatory as ‘X-Men: First Class’’ dire attempts to sell the movie, there is one major oversight with it.
Because it makes it look as though Charles Xavier has eaten something that majorly didn’t agree with him.
The poster for ‘The Accidental Husband’ raises so many questions.
Like, what’s wrong with Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s neck? Why is Uma Thurman’s mouth taped up? Is Uma Thurman interviewing Jeffrey Dean Morgan? Whose hand is that at the bottom of the poster? And why, if he’s in the movie, is Colin Firth not on the poster? That’s just disrespectful.
This wasn’t involved on the thread, but is my personal choice. My main gripe with the poster for ‘Inferno’ is what’s wrong with Tom Hanks’ face? It looks as though he’s wearing a fake chin, ears and nose so that he avoids attention in the street.
