Hugh Jackman refuses to rule out Wolverine return

Hugh Jackman just can’t bring himself to admit that ‘Logan’ will be the last time he’ll ever portray Wolverine.

During a recent interview with the New York Times, Hugh Jackman was asked once again whether he fully believes that ‘Logan’ will mark his final outing as the beloved mutant. And while he insisted that he currently believes he won’t return as Wolverine, he refused to rule out changing his mind in the future.

“When I had the script, I was like, ‘Yes’,” Jackman explained in response to the question. “And when I was shooting the movie, ‘Yes.’ As I sit here today, ‘Yes.’ God knows how I’ll feel in three years. But right now, absolutely.”

Those of you hoping that Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine can take solace in the fact that things can change rather quickly in the film industry.

While the Australian has his mind set on ‘Logan’ being his farewell as he promotes it, there’s every chance that he’ll start to reconsider if its reviews are impressive, and if its box office can rival ‘Deadpool’s’ record breaking X-Men haul of $783.1 million.

Ryan Reynolds has already made it very well known that he wants Hugh Jackman to star in a Deadpool and Wolverine crossover film, and the allure might prove too much if ‘Logan’ does indeed match ‘Deadpool’.

However, the success of ‘Logan’ might ultimately convince Hugh Jackman that now is the perfect time to say goodbye, too. In fact, in the same interview Hugh Jackman even admitted that he’d always been enticed to return as Wolverine because there has “been a gnawing turmoil that [he] hadn’t really nailed it, fully – either story or performance or whatever.”

Things will start to become clearer once ‘Logan’ has finally been released on March 3.
